Recent agitation and campaign against Turkey’s present government is
astonishing. Agitation started when the government decided to build a mall where
a park was located. During the agitation, several shops, public transport,
government offices were looted and burnt by angry mobs. Now, it seems like some
sources are trying to take benefit of the recent situation and destabilise the
present movement. Everything has happened at a time when the whole region is
going through crises. The Syrian conflict is spreading beyond Syrian borders.
Agitation camping, strikes and destabilising Turkey can only add to the miseries
of the Turkish people. It seems true that everything is part of a bigger
conspiracy against the government. Unfortunately the agitation is against the
government that changed the face of Turkey in the past decade. Despite the Euro
economic crises Turkey is still considered as a fast growing economy. Due to
successful economic policies of Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s government the country
exports have reached $114 billion. New dams were built, every city now has its
own universities and the tourism industry has been booming with each passing
year. Turkey is also a part of The North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (Nato)
alliances. Recent agreement with The Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) is another
big achievement of Erdogan’s government. Due to its strong position in the
region, Turkey has an important role in the Syrian and Palestinian
conflicts.
