More than 500 camels raced in the two-day Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Camel Race Festival in the Jordanian southern town of Wadi Rum. Sheikh Sultan bin Hamdan, adviser to the UAE president and who heads UAE's Camel Racing Federation, made an appearance on the second day of the festival along with Prince Asem bin Nayef, Vice President of the Royal Jordanian Equestrian Federation. Sheikh Sultan said that he was happy to be attending the festival and witness such huge crowds, adding that mass participation in the event indicates that there is a growing interest in the sport. He also said that the annual festival takes place with the continuous support of Jordan, with which UAE shares brotherly relations. The annual festival, which is held under the patronage of UAE President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed, is in its 10th year and takes place at the track of Sheikh Zayed, the country’s Founding Father.
