It meant Zinedine Zidane became the first French coach to win the title and remarkably, just six months after being named head coach. Cristiano Ronaldo, whose 16 goals led Real to the final, fittingly struck the winning penalty to send Real fans into raptures and leave Diego Simeone’s Atletico thinking what could’ve been.
