Syrian conflict is spreading

According to media news, US secretary of state’s John Kerry said that he is pleased with the cooperation of the Syrian government now working with Russia to destroy chemical weapons. US secretary of state’s recent u-turn on Syria is astonishing for everyone.

Everyone knows that the Assad regime is responsible for the killing of more than 100,000 innocent civilians. On the same day the US secretary of state made his comment, more than 20 civilians lost their lives when the regime forces dropped bombs in civilian locations.

According to the UN’s latest estimates, more than 100,000 people have lost their lives during last two years of the Syrian conflict.

Due to heavy use of air power, the scale of destruction is very high and in several areas, large buildings have transformed into rubble. Ten thousand women and children also lost their lives due to heavy fighting in urban areas.

Due to fierce gun battles and the use of heavy weapons, three million people, most of them are women and children, were forced to leave their homes and migrate to neighboring countries such as Jordon, Turkey and Lebanon. The UN needs six billion dollars for reconstruction and rehabilitation of migrated people. According to UNICEF, due to lack of food and unclean water children are facing a crisis.

The UN confirmed that some chemical weapons were also used in the Syrian conflict. Several people including women and children lost their lives when they were targeted by Sarin gas which is a form of gas used in chemical weapons.

Due to the intensified battle, women and children are still besieged in some areas and living in miserable conditions. Due to heavy fighting several food storage facilities have been destroyed, Hospitals are running without doctors and the lack of medicine supplies is causing people to go from bad to worse.

Turkey, Jordan and Lebanon are the worst affected. Jordan is currently home to 2.5 million Syrian refugees, half equal to its own population.

Lebanon is facing an internal division between pro and rival Assad groups and several people have lost their lives due to heavy fighting inside Lebanon. Several residential areas are also being targeted and women and children are the worst affected in these areas.
