‘Bomb cyclone’ cripples life in US East Coast

A powerful blizzard battered the northeast of the United States, cutting the power for thousands of people amid a long storm that has affected most of the United States for more than a week and killed more than a dozen people. Thousands of flights were canceled, snow plows and salt trucks rumbled along roads and highways, and New York City's two main airports halted flights due to whiteout conditions. Seventeen deaths occurred in North Carolina from the “bomb cyclone” of snow and wind, including two men who died Wednesday night when their pickup truck slid off a bridge and landed upside down in a creek.
