Last night, world powers agreed to get aid to towns under siege and a ceasefire between all groups except Al Qaeda and Isis. There’s just one, gaping, hole in the proposal. The ceasefire doesn’t stop Russia’s bombing campaign, which has destroyed schools and hospitals far away from any Isis areas. Russia is now the biggest killer of civilians in Syria and according to the Syrian Network for Human Rights has killed more than the Assad regime, Al Qaeda and Isis combined in 2016. Syrians desperately want a ceasefire and an end to the violence. But they want a real ceasefire, one that includes these Russian attacks on civilians too.
